Captain DisillusionCaptain Disillusion, adorned in goofy face paint, debunks popular viral videos, such as the bitch-slapped penguin, ghosts caught on camera, and catching sunglasses with your face. Surprisingly well done, with good production standards and clear, concise explanations. Here is his YouTube page.

Winter night shots

Shopping Carts

Shopping Carts

Shopping carts at the local K-Mart. Shot on a cold windy night. This was a test of my new Nikon 55-200mm VR lens. The vibration reduction seems to work pretty well. This was shot hand-held at f-5.6, 1/40 sec exposure at 200mm.

Forming Words

Forming WordsI was in Minneapolis to see U2 and work with my friend Mike. I looked out the hotel window and saw this sign installer getting the letters ready to hang on the building. Shot with a Nikon 800.

Water Tower

Water TowersWater Tower. Shot with circa 1972 Yashica Electro 35 GSN on auto-exposure setting. I timed it so a semi truck would pass though the frame, leaving the streaks of light. Exposure is about 30 seconds, aperture of 5.6.The Yashica Electro 35 GSN is a very cool old rangefinder film camera. It has a fantastic f 1.2 lens, and an old style selenium meter, which is uncannily accurate, especially in low light. They are tons of fun to play with. Pick one up if you see it.
